ECONOMY

The main economic source of the Malang Regency are from agricultural sector (which includes farming, plantations and farms) and industry.

The products of agriculture and farms include:

  1. Vegetables  (tomatoes,   cabbage,   carrots,   collards,   cabbage,   beans,   beans, cucumbers, potatoes, )
  2. Paddy
  3. Cane
  4. Decorative plants
  5. Woods (Sengon, Jabon)
  6. Chicken meat and egg
  7. Beef
  8. Cow Milk
  9. Goat meat and milk
  10. Rabbit meat

The Industry sector mostly engaged in the processing and trade of the agricultural products, which include:

  1. Refined sugar industry
  2. Tea industry
  3. The food processing industry (fruit chips, potato chips, snacks, )
  4. Cutting and wood-processing industry
  5. Milk processing industry
  6. Chicken meat processing industry

INFRASTRUCTURE

Transportation

Transportation between cities served by buses, planes, and trains. Terminals in the Malang Regency are Kepanjen, Dampit, Wajak, Lawang, and Tumpang.
Malang Regency is located at the railway line across Blitar-Surabaya-Malang-Surabaya-Kertosono. There are six Railway Station in the Malang Regency (Lawang, Singosari, Pakisaji, Kepanjen, Ngebruk, and Sumberpucung). Railway tracks in the Malang Regency is quite unique, because it passes through two tunnels in the dam area of Sutami and Karangkates.
Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport is located in Pakis District, serving civil aviation connecting Malang - Jakarta (Sriwijaya Air, Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, and Batavia Air) and Malang - Denpasar (Wings Air), with these 4 airlines, Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport served a total of 7 flights per day.

Telecommunication

Malang Regency is supported by adequate telecommunication facilities, all of the national cellular operator provide many relay tower in the regency.

Energy

The regency have provided an adequate availability of electricity throughout the area for almost all kind of necessity.

Malang Regency is known as a major tourist destination in East Java. The tourist attractions include:

ACCESSIBILITIES

Malang Regency are relatively easy to reach by both domestic and international tourist. Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport serves domestic flight connecting Malang Regency with Jakarta and Bali, international tourists could access from those cities and connect to Malang Regency, or through the nearest international airport in Kediri Regency, Juanda International Airport, which located around 100 Km from Malang Regency.

TOURISM IN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Malang Regency is one of the national priority in terms of tourism development. The Ministry of Tourism have appointed many destinations in East Java as the National Tourism Development Zone and the National Tourism Destination, Malang Regency was included as one of the National Tourism Development Zone and the National Tourism Destination.
Tourism has become one of the main priority sector for development by the local government. The government and the community have fully aware of the Malang regency tourism resources and it’s potential for economic contribution through tourism development. They are welcoming every investors that are willing to cooperate not only on developing more tourism attraction and facilities but also to develop in all of tourism aspects of Malang Regency.

There is a small island offshore called Ismoyo Island, where a small shrine called Pura Amerta Jati lies, this island is similar to the world famous Tanah Lot Beach in Bali Island.
